Easy, macro-friendly protein ‘pon-cake’ recipe

Hey folks,

I've been really into protein pancakes the last while, and I thought I would share my really easy recipe passed down to me by my partner Shannon,

If you skimmed the title, you’ll have noticed I spelled pancake as "‘pon-cake’ (pronounced pawn-cake.) This is how my dad (the goofy fella he is) used pronounce it to us growing up, and it stuck with me ever since. So here it is!

What you need:

  • 130g egg whites

  • 30g (or a scoop) of your favorite protein powder)

  • 50g (about 1/4 cup) of your favorite milk, or dairy free milk

  • 2 TBSP ground flax seeds

  • 30g oats

Optional ingredients (whatever your heart desires, as long as it fits your nutritional goals):

  • Dark chocolate

  • Peanut butter

  • Maple syrup

  • Berries

  • Toasted oats

  • Whipped cream

Instructions:

  • Add all ingredients to a bowl. Whisk with a fork until everything seems mixed together.

  • Add some oil to a pan, or grab a non-stick pan.

  • Pour the mixture into the pan.

  • Flip when necessary.

(PRO-TIP: A sign that your pancake needs to be flipped is when you start seeing bubbles come up.)

  • Add your optional indigents. I like dark chocolate and Kraft natural peanut butter with sea salt.

And voila! You have a beautiful, macro-friendly pon-cake! I'll post the macro's below in case you're interested 😄

***The macro’s will differ depending on the protein used, as well as the optional ingredients.
