Does alcohol slow fat loss?
If you are on a fat loss plan, you can still enjoy the occasional glass of wine or craft beer.
With that said, let's be realistic here. For some, it may be challenging to have one glass of wine or alcoholic beverage. Or have one drink and not eat an entire nacho platter or deep-friend dill pickle spears (guilty). If you need to stick to a fat loss plan, then it may be that you should avoid alcohol entirely. It depends on your goals and overall calories, but if you can do moderation, then by all means.
Alcohol still contains calories. But that doesn't mean we should avoid it. One study replaced 10% of calories with either white wine or grape juice in a fat loss plan. In the end, both groups lost a significant amount of weight despite the alcohol. Another interesting (and rather funny) case study was a man who gave up everything but beer for lent- and lost 40 pounds. It can be done!
To sum it up, simply be mindful of your goals if you're heading to the pub or out for a girl's night! Alcohol in moderation can be included in a fat loss plan.
